Named Simon at the shelter, this boy came to them after wandering up on someone's porch and just collapsing.  He was starving and filled with infection from an imbedded strap with a cowbell on it.  We were immediately contacted for help for him and with big thanks to Heartland Veterinary Clinic for always having room for one more, we were able to commit to this adorable boy.  He spent the first few nights at the shelter clinic receiving IV antibiotics and fluids then with the help of our amazing volunteers he was moved to Heartland.  He was checked over and immediately started on medications and hydrotherapy for the horrible wound from the strap.  He realllllly wanted to eat but due to being emaciated he was started on several small meals a day to not overload his GI tract and to slowly begin getting some weight on him.  It didn't take long for the vets and staff at the clinic to start getting some little tail wags out of him and three weeks later he is spending most of his time in the office instead of being in the kennel and giving LOTS of tail wags now.  We started calling him Larry, because well, he just looked like a Larry and he is now up to 47 lbs after dropping down to 42 lbs after intake due to being full of hookworm.  Once given dewormrer and starting on the several small meals a day his weight started to and continues to climb.  He absolutely ADORES the little girl who lives above the clinic and her mom brings her down often to help take him outside and to just hang out with him. He has also met some new dog friends out in the play area and did great with them. Larry's luck is twofold.....not only was rescue able to save his life, he has lots of temporary foster, foster, forever foster and adoption interest....what a blessing for hime!!  We will keep the meidical updates and pictures coming and are hoping to have an dea on a release date from the clinic soon!

BIG UPDATE 2/6.....Larry left the clinic yesterday!!!  He is in his temporary foster home until transport to his foster family.  Thank you for all of the love and support for our amazing boy!!!!!!

UPDATE 2/12:  Larry moved to his Indiana foster home yesterday with special thanks to Pilot Mike & Marilee for giving him a "lift".  He had a great first night and is getting all settled in.  Please check back for more pics and updated information soon!!

3/14 UPDATE....NEWS EVER!  Larry is alllllll settled in with his Indiana foster family and they have decided that is where he will stay.  We have moved Larry to "SPONSOR ME" status as he is a forever foster and the rescue will continue to cover his vetting and medical needs, including monthly preventatives.  Please consider sponsoring Larry with a monthly recurring donation....THANK YOU!!!
