Moo arrived at our house on October 18, 2016 she was owner surrender. At that time it was questioned whether Moo was coming in to heat or possibly pregnant. We recently learned from the 2nd set of x-rays that Moo is not pregnant but experiencing a false pregnancy that will last the full cycle of 63-65 days. It has just about run its course. Moo has now been spayed...YAY!
Moo is a fun loving full of life high energy young boxer girl. Moo knows how to sit, shake, down, rollover, and give high 5’s. Moo gets very excited when her humans have been gone and return home, she will bounce like a rabbit, run circles, and talks like no one hears her! She will follow you and wine or go to the door when she needs to potty. She has been currently using a doggie door as well. If it is dark outside she will not go out by herself, she requires her human to turn on the lights and walk into the yard with her. We have only had 2 potty accidents in the house since Moo has been here, with both times being in the middle of the night. She will try to alert you with her little nose in the middle of the night. Moo will be happy to snuggle you in bed or sleep on a doggie bed next to yours. She is a very smart young girl and a quicker learner.
I have 2 granddogs staying in my home currently, one of which is a 5.5 yo female (zoey) that is submissive and Moo has taken full advantage of that by trying to boss her around and push her out of the way for attention. There have been some instances between the girls that needed human intervention to get under control. Moo will lie in the floor or on the couch next to zoey but never engages in play with her. With that in mind I do not think placing Moo in a home with another female dog regardless of age is a good option for her. However, the 1.5 yo male boxer (deezy) she plays for hours with him and at times are inseparable, this last couple of weeks she has been a little naughty with him and wanting all the attention to herself. I personally make sure that I give her one on one attention and engage her and deezy in playing ball together.
Moo would definitely benefit from some obedience training. She does not walk well using a flat collar, but if you use a harness or training collar she does ok. Since being here she has acclimated to crate training and has mastered that comfortably. We currently only use the crate when we leave the house, but she has no issue going in her crate with her nyla bone and a couple of cookies.
Moo does not chew on furniture or tear up things in the house, she loves her elk antlers, nyla bones, Kong’s with peanut butter and cookies inside, raw beef femurs, playing ball (tennis balls), going for long walks, and car rides. She loves to be by her human’s side!! Moo loves kids and other dogs with caution airing on the side of intros to female dogs.
Moo continues to learn leash walking skills, how to get along with other female dogs by not be bossy, and not to jump on people when entering the home.
