Ruby Roo is just a little doll!! Her mom is our Queenie and we are told her dad was a Cane Corso so she could potentially be a big girl. Ruby is looking for a family who will be committed to taking her to a minimum of two levels of obedience/training classes and will continue socialization, obedience and training at home.
Ruby is such a cuddle bug and loves to be around the people of the house! She shows minimal interest in the cats of the house except when the younger ones "growls" back but after a firm No, Ruby does walk away. Ruby has been introduced to the leash but at times seems to get stressed out so we only have the leash on her for 10 to 20 minutes at a time as she adjusts. We are working on figuring out potty training. Ruby does not really give any signs as to when she needs to use the bathroom and ends up just going at the drop of a hat wherever she may be. We have potty pads out in hopes that we will soon pick up on a signal from her before she uses it. Until than, frequent outside potty breaks seems to be the way to go for now.
Ruby does seem to get a little anxious when she is not immediately by the people of the house. To help with this, we put up a gate and sit on the opposite side of it and slowly move farther away. She has done very well with this in the past 2 days and no longer howls as soon as she isn't "leaning" on her foster momma. As a puppy, she is clearly going to chew, but again has taken quick to understanding what No means with some redirection.
Ruby GREATLY benefits from shutdown time in her kennel. It gives her a chance to calm down and observe her surroundings without any obligation to check it out. She also has done really well at night in her kennel! We get her out one last time before bed at 9ish and she stays quiet till around 5am when her foster dad gets up to get ready for work! Ruby (or Roo, as we like to call her!) is a smart girl!
