Hi Friends! My name is Nelson. I was born on Thanksgiving day of 2017 in Kentucky. The kind people of AABR rescued me and my two brothers, Prince and Roger, and we are so glad they did. My mom was a Boxer and my dad was said to be a mix. A recent DNA test said that I am 75% Boxer and 25% Lab. My foster mama says that can't be right, but whatever I am, I'm adorable. I think I'm a big dog in a little dog body.
I love to snuggle and be near my humans but I also love to be with my big Boxer foster sister, Ella, too. She is cuddly and likes to play with me. We play with toys and we play chase a lot...but then we get tired and find a comfy spot on the couch to cuddle and nap. She is teaching me what good dogs do.
I am a little shy at first and get startled with big sounds...when Ella would bark I would get startled and look to my foster mom and dad for reassurance. Her bark doesn't scare me anymore though. I have fun with other dogs, have met a couple bunny rabbits and really like my foster cousins (ages 1, 4 and 12). My foster brother is fun to play with and likes to play and cuddle with me. He is 10.
I am working on going potty outside all the time and am getting better and better at it. I don't mind my crate while my foster family is at work and sometimes I sleep in it at night. Lately I have been spending the night outside of my crate and have been doing a really good job! So far I can sit and wait for a treat when I am asked to. I love treats and would do anything for them.
I love toys...stuffies are my favorite but I like small Kong toys, ropes and balls. I really like running in the yard and finding sticks to chew on. I like to pick up rocks to bring in the house but foster mom makes me leave them at the door. She's no fun. I am meeting lots of people, gaining lots of experiences and learning lots of new things everyday.
