Rosie joined us last week and she is getting comfy in her Indiana foster home.  She tested very well with other dogs at the shelter but hasn't been introduced to her foster fursiblings (cat or dog) yet.  Rosie LOVES children.  She came into the shelter as a stray, limping on her right front leg (shoulder) and with some small wounds on her.  The wounds are all healed but she is still limping so we have started her on anti-inflammatory medication and Phycox and we will monitor her leg to see if any further testing is needed.

UPDATE:  Rosie's leg didn't seem to bother her at all but she was still limping on what appeared to be her shoulder area so her foster mom took her in for x-rays.  We were all shocked (vet included!) to see that our sweet girl has a broken bone in her upper leg.  We are consulting with two othropedic surgery centers to see what her best option is and will get her all taken care of.  In the meantime, she is doing beautifully in her foster home.  She gets along great with her foster fur brother and sister and she absolutely adores all of the love and attention from all of the people in her foster home...foster mom, dad and sister Taylor and niece, Emerson.  Rosie loves nothing more than being with her people and her dog friends.  She has also discovered the toy box and loves to play!

NOVEMBER 2018 UPDATE:  Rosie was returned to the rescue for behaviors that we have not seen in the foster home that she was moved to.  She is doing very well with the resident Boxer mix boy in her foster home and has had no issues with adults, children or the dog-savvy cat.  Rosie despises being crated but does very well when left uncrated.  Rosie LOVES toys and her perfect home will have the time and patience to do slow intros with new dog friends and let her figure out once again that she is safe where she is.  She would also do well in a home with no other dogs as long as she has lots of toys :)

MARCH 2020 UPDATE:  Rosie loves car rides, food & treats and toys. She does good on walks, starts off a little excited but calms down quickly. She loves her people and only wants to be with them doing whatever they are doing.  Rosie has never been food aggressive and never shown aggression to people.  She has been to the groomer and did very well getting a bath & her nails trimmed.  Rosie can be picky with new doggie friends and would be fine without any other dogs in the home or will need training and some socializing slowly and slow introductions with new dog friends.  She is buddies with a 3 year old young male dog but it was a slow process. She has shown interest in the cat, but more staring & curiosity.  Rosie crates up beautifully now and she also enjoys stretching out on the king size bed at night.
