Gunnar's former "life" consisted of being outside on a chain 24/7 with a way too tight collar and with little to no attention other to be fed and watered.  When neighbors noticed his neck wound they immediately called animal control who went out and had the owner sign him over.  We were contacted by the vet clinic who initially saw him and we just knew we had to help this sweet soul.

Gunnar is approximately 5 years old.  He formerly lived with other dogs (also outside on chains) and he tested OK with female dogs at the shelter.  He enjoyed his stay at Heartland Veterinary Hospital, receiving treatment for embedded collar wound and got all vaccinated, heartworm & fecal tested and he has moved to his Indiana foster home.  Despite not really knowing how to receive affection from humans, he has been incredibly sweet during the cleaning and treatment of his neck.  We are sure it won't take him long to get used to all of the love and attention he is now receiving.

UPDATE:  Gunnar is doing fabulous in his temporary foster home!!  He will crate up like a dream and hasn't had any accidents on the house.  He is very well behaved and ohhhhhhhh so handsome!!  From his foster mom:  Gunnar is so easy going, calm and house trained.   He just wants someone to sit beside or sleep with.  He wants to be touching, but he is not clingy.  Gunnar is a little too interested in the cats in his temp foster home so a home without cats would be best.
