Gabriel is nothing short of a miracle.  This precious soul is blind and emaciated and had just a few more days to live.  A plea for rescue was made on facebook and one of our southern volunteer/fosters was tagged...lo and behold she just happened to be in Ft Payne and minutes from the shelter right at that moment.  Kara drove straight to the shelter to meet Kristin to temperament tested him with other dogs...he did GREAT...and went home with Kara right then.  Gabriel received his needed routine vetting and we will get him in for neuter surgery once he has put some weight on.  He is fabulous with kids and just wants to play, play, play.  He is FULL of energy and his temporary foster mom will be working on some manners and training with him.  She will also get him cat tested soon.  

UPDATE:  Gabriel has finally put on enough weight and is rid of all of the intestinal parasites and has been neutered!  He is doing much better on his house manners, too.  Due to his blindness and his LOVE of running and playing hard, Gabriel will do best in a home with older children as he may accidentally knock small children over.  He is "OK" with cats that will leave him alone or put him in his place but he does like to chew on their tails :)
