This gorgeous girl was found by a good samaritan all curled up in a feral cat colony, so of course we had to name her Kitty.  She was taken to the local shelter for her stray hold.  She was not claimed so we stepped right in to bring her into rescue.  She received some basic intake vetting at the shelter and she made her way to the vet clinic where she received the rest of her vetting including bloodwork, heartworm testing, fecal testing and she was microchipped.  Kitty tested heartworm positive and tested positive for Lyme disease.  She has started on medications for both.

Kitty is good with male dogs and we are guessing she is OK with cats as she was sharing the colony with them :)  She just arrived at her Wisconsin foster home and is getting acquainted with her foster mom.  She is eating well, takes treats very gently, has found some favorite toys already and does her business outside with no accidents in the house.  She is scheduled for her first round of heartworm treatment on April 24th.

5/18 UPDATE:  Kitty did beautifully with her first round of heartworm treatment and is scheduled for round two at the end of this week, so please keep her in your thoughts and prayers as the back to back injections can be painful and difficult on a dog.

Kitty continues to be amazing.  She is completely housebroken, sleeps through the night and has been great when left alone in the house uncrated for a few hours at a time.  She is a fun and silly girl and loves her toys!

5/24 UPDATE:  Kitty finished up her last round of heartworm treatment injections and did great.  She will be on crate rest in her foster home for the next 4-6 weeks.
