Layla just arrived at her temporary foster home in Kentucky and she is getting used to all of the new sights, smells and changes in her life.  Her mom & dad divorced and Layla's dad was not able to find housing where she could live, too, so she was surrendered to a rural Kentucky shelter.  Lucky for her, the shelter knew just who to contact for help :)  Layla is on the heavier side and needs to lose a few pounds.  She isn't super interested in dog food so we are thinking her previous diet probably included some pretty good human food.  She is on the calmer side and she is non-reactive to other dogs.  She was said to formerly be good around kids and cats...we haven't had her around kids yet and she has growled at the kitty in her temp foster home, but with everything being all new that may be the issue.  We will keep that information updated as we learn more.

8/18 UPDATE:  Layla is getting pretty comfy at her temp foster home.  She us pretty much ignoring the cat now and her foster furbrother is feeling a little better about her being there :)  She enjoys going for walks and likes to be close to her people, as in lap dog close LOL She does a little growly/talk/bark thing when foster dad stops petting her.

From her foster mom:  Layla loves to ride in the car, especially in the front seat. She loves to eat and sleep.  Walking is ok, she does well on and off the leash (at the dog park). She loves pup cups and hamburgers :)  She has to be wherever I am.

9/5 UPDATE:  Layla is all ready to find her forever home!  She is good with kids, loves riding in the car and loves going to the dog park to run and play.  She is good with other dogs but can try to be the alpha so she will need a strong leader to help her understand that she is not the boss.  She has growled some at her fur fosterbrother Charlie over a high value treat (bone) but he is a slow eater so it seems she was trying to take advanatage of that.
