Bella came to us from an Ohio shelter where she was turned in as a stray. Her finder reported that she had a lot of seizures from the time she found her until arriving at the shelter. She had no seizure activity for several weeks in her foster home then started having cluster seizures. After some testing, Bella was diagnosed with Idiopathic Epilepsy. Her seizure activity has improved but we are still working on getting the right combination/dosage of her medications, so she has had a few breakthrough seizures but they have been shorter and less in severity.
FROM BELLA'S CURRENT FOSTER FAMILY:
Bella is a sweet and petite 1 year old girl (approx) and is around 40 pounds. She loves walks, squirrels, tennis balls, saying hi to people, kids, and taking her medicine! We have fostered Bella since August 2020 and she has been having cluster seizures every couple of weeks. She is on Phenobarbital and a generic Keppra at the moment. We are working with the vet to find the right combination of meds to get her seizure free. The only side effect of the medicine has been increased thirst and having to go out more often. She is her sweet bubbly self besides that. She has not been spayed because of the seizures. Bella will be able to be spayed when the seizures are under control. As a foster, the rescue will cover the cost of her medications and.vet visits and we will cover the cost of her spay surgery whether she is fostered or adppted.
Please contact us for more information if you are considering fostering or adopting this beautiful brindle girl!
Her routine is waking up around 6am to go out and take her medicine with a little bit of ham! She has breakfast (Purina Pro Health sensitive stomach) around 7am. Her day consists of carrying around her tennis balls, playing with the kids, and watching us work from home. She has treats when she goes potty and a dentastick at lunch time. She has dinner and medicine at 5pm. She snuggles with us after dinner until bed time.
She is house trained (minus some accidents because of the increased thirst and water intake) and crate trained. She sometimes just takes a nap in her open crate during the day. She whines when she has to go out or will lick your hand. She rarely barks. I think I've heard her bark twice in 4 months at deer and another dog.
She is amazing with our 9 year old daughter and 6 year old son. She lets our son play with her and.plays along with tge things that silly 6 year old boys do. She loves toys and fetching tennis balls. If you give her an open spot on the couch or bed she will find that spot in your bent knees between your calf and thigh and nestle on in there!
