Honey Bea's former owners chained her for most of her life with no food, water or shelter.  When they moved away they took the chain off of her but left her to fend for herself.  She found herself at the home of a kind lady who fed her and reached out to her friend who in turn reached to a friend who reached out to one of our volunteers, she reached out to us and with a foster home offer, the magic happened.

Honey is at Heartland getting all of her vetting.  We are running full bloodwork and will be doing x-rays on her leg and pelvis as she has some issues with her rear leg and doesn't seem to have much use of it.  It appears to be an older injury though as she seems to have adjusted to it being that way.  She also has a few lumps and bumps to get checked out.  Honey appears to be mostly to completely deaf.  Her ears are in pretty bad shape so hopefully with a good cleaning and treatment she might be able to hear.  As soon as she is all vetted she will be going to her Kentucky foster home.

6/16 UPDATE:  Honey Bea has made herself right at home with her foster pack.  After a few days of all of the new activity she was a little down in her hip/pelvic area so she is being started on a daily regimin of anti-inflammatory medication.  She has put on a few pounds and is looking and feeling pretty good!!!!

5/4/22 UPDATE:  Honey Bea recently gave us quite a scare.  What started out as seemingly allergies, quickly turned into a life-threatening situation.  After about a week at Heartland and LOTS of testing, IV fluids & medications, oral medications, special food, x-rays, cultures, etc it was found that she had MRSA.  She is on the mend now and feeling MUCH better and has been back in her forever foster home for about week.
