This adorable Tennessee girl will be on her way to her Minnesota foster home very soon where she will undergo treatment for heartworm disease. Tinker is a fun girl who is good with other dogs. She has received all of her other vetting, including being spayed and microchipped. She won't be available for adoption until after her treatment. Please check back in on her soon!!
8/8 UPDATE: Tinker arrived at her Minnesota foster home late last night. She did fantastic on transport, giving everyone lots of kisses along the day. She will get all settled in and finish her pretreatment medications then will be starting heartworm treatment in a few weeks.
9/28 UPDATE: Tinker's pre-heartworm treatment appointment is coming up on Friday and assuming everything looks good she is scheduled to start her injection treatment on 10/5. She is doing great in her foster home! She can be a little bossy with new dog friends and her perfect home would have either a very submissive male dog that she is given time to warm up to or she would likely be happy being an only dog. She has a pretty high prey drive so we are thinking no kitties or other small pets as siblings :)
10/6 UPDATE: Tinker's chest x-rays and bloodwork looked excellent so she was able to start her heartworm treatment. She had her first injection yesterday and did fantastic. She will go in for round two (two injections) in 30 days. Please keep her in your thoughts and also her foster mom & dad who have to keep her calm and quiet.
10/22 UPDATE: Our girl continues to do well with her treatment and is on crate rest and leash-walking to potty only. Tinker's second round of heartworm treatment is scheduled for 11/4 - 11/5.
11/6: Tinker had her 2nd and 3rd heartworm treatment injections and did great and is resting well. She will have at least 4 weeks of crate rest and leash walking only while she recovers from treatment.
12/14 UPDATE FROM TINKER'S FOSTER MOM: Tinker is doing just great as she finishes up her heartworm treatment! I do believe that she feels better than she did when she arrived. She is definitely more playful these days, and has the cutest prance and wiggle ever. She really enjoys wrestling and playing tug with our laid-back 80lb Lab mix, and has been excited to take short walks around the neighborhood.
She really is the sweetest little girl. She likes to follow me around the house and loves to cuddle on the couch. She seems to be friendly with all people big and small, and is tolerant of our sometimes loud and energetic 9-year-old. Her dream forever home would be one where she could sleep on her person’s bed with them (she doesn’t often get to here, but she sure wants to!) As I have mentioned before, she would love another dog around her age and size to play with, provided that they are cool with her being queen of the castle. She would also probably be fine on her own, especially if there was someone who wanted to play tug and fetch with her.
She doesn’t love being crated, but would likely do fine left out, provided the garbage was put away and nothing too enticing was left on the counters…
Tinker is ready ready ready to find her forever family!
