Laila joins us from a central Kentucky shelter where she was surrendered due to her mom's job keeping her from being at home with her enough.  She needs a little bit of routine vetting that we are getting done and in the meantime, she is getting settled in at her Ohio foster home.  Laila is definitely a people person but she does get along well with cats and with other dogs, as well as kids.  She is a little clingy to foster mom right now, definitely not unexpected after her stressful week or two.  She hasn't had much play time with her foster furbrother yet as we are allowing her some time to decompress.  

3/25:  Our Laila tested positive for heartworm disease.  She has started on pre-treatment medications.

6/18 UPDATE:  Laila had her first injection and her heartworm treatment and is now in the resting part of treatment until her second round of two injections on July 13/14th. She will need a few weeks of crate rest and leash walking only after that then she will be ready to find her forever family. Meanwhile she continues to be great with the cat's in the home and she is really good on the leash. She hasn't had much interaction with her foster furbrother due to having to be kept calm for treatment but she formerly lived with several other dogs so we don't think she would have any issues with living with other now.

7/31 UPDATE:  Laila had her second and third injections for her heartworm treatment a couple of weeks ago and she is getting very close to being able to return to her pre-treatment life of running and playing. Foster mom Amy will give her a little more time to rest then will let us know how she is doing!

8/16 UPDATE:  Laila is alllllllllllllllll finished with heartworm treatment and the post-treatement rest period.  Her foster mom has started slow intros with her foster furbrother....he has A LOT of energy and Laila is a little unsure of what to do with him LOL  She is still fabulous with cats.
