Hey everyone!! My name is Wilson and I am a super sweet boy!! I just arrived at my foster home and I am happy to be here. My foster mom & dad are taking great care of me and I have already made friends with my foster fursister Lila!
FROM WILSON'S FOSTER MOM: Wilson is NOT hurting for energy regardless of the large scar on his foot. He’s downright springy!!! He can keep up with Lila (for a little while at least.) He plays like a Boxer, nothing too rough that I’ve seen, though.
- The tip of his nose is yucky. Some kind of dermatitis maybe? It is all cracked up (very deep cracks), but does not seem to necessarily bother him. It was very brown when we picked him up yesterday, but it’s quickly turning back to all black even though the cracks have not gone away.
- He loves to snuggle.
- He is a pretty good listener and understands a loud voice. I “ahhh’d” him once and he has stayed away from the cat food all day :o)
- He did fairly well in the crate last night, we never heard a peep.
THE LATEST ON WILSON: Sweet & loving older man looking for a Sugar Mama (or Daddy!)
Are you looking for a dog to be your constant loving companion? Wilson is the one for you! I cannot reiterate enough just how sweet this guy is. Sweet, sweet, sweet! He loves to cuddle and will spend hours on your lap if you let him. He’ll cuddle with anyone; people, dogs, cats, strangers - he is an equal opportunity lover!
Wilson likes to get down when it’s playtime, too. He plays very well, nothing too rough. He likes to run and frolic and box & is mostly submissive. He has plenty of energy and has no issues keeping up with a Boxer a few years his junior. Sometimes when I’m watching him play I think his paws are mini trampolines! He hasn’t been too interested in fetch or playing with toys, but he definitely enjoys playing with other dogs. When he lays down, he’s done!
Wilson is house trained and has not had one potty accident in the house. The first few days we had him, he came downstairs and went into the crate just perfectly. More recently, I’ve had to put him on a leash and walk him down the stairs to get him in there, (maybe he just hates the stairs). He goes in without a fight though, and never makes a peep. In fact, I have never heard him bark at all. A few whines here and there, but nothing crazy.
Wilson may or may not have an issue with his pancreas & digestion. He came to us from the shelter with some enzymes called PancrePlus, which we give him in moist food before each meal. On his first night with us he did vomit in the crate, but that was a big crazy day for him so I didn’t panic. There have not been any more vomiting episodes until about 5 minutes ago when he & Lila had just finished up playing.
He does have an issue with his left rear paw. There is an abscess (for lack of a better word, it’s like a cut that won’t heal) on the main pad that tends to bleed when he gets too wound up. We have been aggressively using coconut oil & antibiotic ointment on it, but so far it is not having a healing effect. We just make sure to put a Pawz on him for inside playtime. He lays right down for you to put it on as soon as he sees it :o) The other issue with that paw is that the toes are splayed, possibly due to some nerve damage from a previous cut-type injury on his ankle. This does not stop him from doing anything!
Wilson is truly a joy to have around!!! He assimilated into our family on the first day and it’s like he’s always been here. We took him outside on the leash for the first couple of days, but after a lot of supervised outside time, he stays right in the yard with Lila and I. He has a very endearing Yoda-face and sometimes sleeps with his eyes open and is just so, so, so sweet! He does not beg for food and cleans up after himself at mealtime. At bedtime he’ll sleep in his bed or our bed; he just stays where you put him. He listens well to verbal commands and knows sit, stay & lay down. Wilson is just an overall wonderful pup!
If you give this guy a chance, I know he’ll win your heart!!!!
THE LATEST ON WILSON: We have now had a chance to take him for a hike, a few neighborhood strolls and also to the dog park & on various errands. Guess what? He’s great on a leash, great with other dogs, great in the car and loves every person he meets. (I had no doubt!!) His coat is shiny and amazing and his waist is finally filling out a bit and the old wound on his foot is healed :)
