On Dec. 19th, rescue angel Amy, who lives in Tuscaloosa, AL saw a Boxer on the side of the road that had been hit by a car. She turned around, lifted the dog into her car and took her to her vet. Amy put up posters and other advertising trying to find the owner who finally contacted her saying they didn't want the dog because she kept digging out of their yard. They said the Boxer's name is Lizzie and she's about 9 years old and very friendly. The vet x-rayed and found nothing broken but suspected a concussion and she was kept for observation. Amy visited Lizzie at the vet to find her walking, wiggly, happy and extra loving. She was released but the bad news is she is heartworm positive. In the meantime, she is being well taken care of and very loved.
UPDATE: Lizzie is now with her foster and will be getting evaluated soon to decide the best course of heartworm treatment for her. She is a complete wigglebutt and fit in very quickly and smoothly with all of the doggies in her foster home.
THE LATEST ON LIZZIE: Lizzie has completed heartworm treatment and is doing fantastic! She is ready to find her perfect family :) She is fantastic with kids and loves all other dogs. Lizzie has put on some much-needed weight and is now up to 50 lbs!!
