Sophie was surrendered to the shelter due to the older male Beagle in the home not wanting her around. She was best friends with the other female Boxer in the home. Sophie is a petite little girl.
UPDATE: We have only had Sophie for a week and found that she is an extreme wiggle butt. She is very fond of people and when she is with us strongly desires to be very close to us, on our laps, or most common, snuggling into my husbands chest. For a boxer, I would say she is about medium energy. Has the ability to slow down and relax but still has energy to burn as well. In the week that we have had her we have found that she is perfectly house trained and after some getting used to is great with the crate. I believe she was probably crate trained previously but was leery for the first few days in our home/new environment. Because we picked her up at the shelter, we have put her on the two week shutdown to help reset her and adjust to her new surroundings better. She has not had much interaction with our dogs so I can't speak to that immediately. When she is out with us she likes to run with us around the house- not much interest in toys- but loves to interact with us.
We don't allow dogs on our furniture but it appears that she was able to get up at her will at her previous home. She has taken correction very well with a simple "ah" or "no." This tells me that if there are habits that may not work in your home that they could easily be corrected. She seems to pretty much go with the flow.
Once she settled into our house she had a normal appetite. We have given her raw hides and a few bones and there are no issues with resource guarding those items. She is given food in her crate but I do not believe that she guarding issues with that either.
Sophie rides in the car like a dream. She stays in the back and likes to sniff out the window a little then eventually is just ready to lay down and relax. She knows where she is going when we head towards the car and is ready to go.
Her leash manners are not the greatest; however, she is very motivated by food. I think that with a little bit of work she could really do well on the leash. She listens pretty well and likes to work for a treat. It would be just a little bit of time and effort to get her walking better on the leash.
