Leah was surrendered to the rescue in pretty bad shape.  She went straight to the vet clinic and has been in their care for a couple of weeks and finally seems to have turned the corner.  What was thought to be possible clots or a mass in her bladder appears to have been a massive infection.  She is now pottying on her own and it is finally clear!  She is eating GREAT and is full of wiggles for all of the doctors and staff.  Leah has been outside several times with Humble and they love each other!!!  We will be getting Leah vaccinated and heartworm tested and it is looking like she will be healthy enough to be spayed soon!!

THE LATEST:   Our Leah has had another setback.  She did fabulous during her spay surgery and recovered very well and was her bouncy fun self until this past week.  Leah had a loose/dark stool on Tuesday/Wednesday so they started her on some GI food and Metronidazole. By Thursday her gums were pale and she was lethargic. They checked her all over and found purple spots on her belly like hemorrhages under her skin. They don't know if we are looking at infection or an auto-immune issue. They ran bloodwork and her RBC was low and WBC was high, all other values were good. She has been started on steroids and antibiotics and Kate & Katie are taking turns checking in on her today and tomorrow. They haven't had to put her back on IV fluids yet but will if needed. Both Dr Rowland and Dr Rankin are at a convention right now and they are consulting with about 8 other vets on her case and they all are in agreement on the course of treatment and don't feel like they are missing anything and cannot think of anything else to look for right now.  Continued prayers for our girl that she can clear yet another hurdle on her road to recovery!

Hi...my name is Leah & I finally made it to Minnesota after a lengthy vet visit! My foster mom says I am such a good girl. I'm potty trained, love to give kisses, I'm not food aggressive & I love the littles (aka kids) in the house! I've become pals with the resident dog in the house. He's pretty laid back & hasn't been feeling well so sometimes I try to get the cats to play. Well you know how that goes!   I also LOVE my chew toys and playing with my squeaky ball! But most of all I like to be by my people!

Foster mom here... Leah has been doing so well. She goes right into her kennel during the day and snuggles at night with the kid of her choice. We've been working on redirecting her puppy chewing to her toys (she just loves squeaky toys) vs our shoes. She loves walks but needs to work on leash walking without pulling. She has lots of energy which is normal for a puppy but be prepared and be ready to play as she loves the interaction and her people time.  Leah LOVES to run and would do best in a home with a fenced-in yard.
